You do not need an account or a connected calendar to start using DoWat.
[Open the app](/app) and write down one thing you want to do.

## Capture a task

Try **Pick up a parcel**. A time estimate is optional. You can also write
**Pick up a parcel, 15 min**. Check the suggestion before adding the task.

Under **Today**, you can edit, move, or check off tasks. Personal tasks and
work can share the same list. [More about capture](/docs/en/planning/capture).

## Start with a timer

Start a task's timer if it helps. Without an estimate, it starts at ten minutes.
Under **Focus**, you can pause and leave a note to help you pick up later.

When time runs out, your work does not end automatically. You can keep going,
extend the timer, or end the block. Ending a block and checking off a task
are separate actions.

## Turn on scheduling suggestions

To distribute tasks across free time, choose your available days and hours
in **Settings**. A connected calendar helps DoWat account for appointments.
[Connect a calendar](/docs/en/calendar/connect-ics).

Tasks that do not fit remain visible. Shorten them, split them into smaller
steps, or move them to another day.

## Explore an example

The [example day](/example) uses sample data. You can compare a regular day
with a day when you have less energy. It does not change your tasks or settings.
You can also choose example mode during app onboarding.

## Continue on another device

Sign in with the same account on both devices to sync tasks. Without sign-in,
tasks stay on the device where you created them.
